Somerset charity seeks models 60-plus for advertising campaign

A Somerset charity is looking for models over the age of 60 to star in a new campaign to highlight its work in the local community.

Age UK Somerset – formerly called Age Concern Somerset – works to “make life better for the older people of Somerset and North Somerset” through providing information, support, and products.

The charity covers an area including Minehead, Portishead, Burnham-on-Sea, Bruton, Yeovil, Yatton, Wiveliscombe, and Wells, and every town and village in between.

A spokesperson said: “We are not a national charity – we are Somerset through and through, but we’ve not always been good at getting this message across.

“We need you to help make our local-ness more obivious!

“We are looking for locals over 60-years-old who would be happy to be photographed near a Somerset or North Somerset landmark. You could be an individual, a couple, or a group. You would then consent to us using these photographs to promote our work.

“It doesn’t matter if you think you are attractive or not, to us you are beautiful!”

The charity would like to find volunteer models from across the whole of the county and can provide transport if necessary.

Age UK Somerset chief executive, Phil Dolan, said: “Our charity’s services cover the whole of Somerset and North Somerset, and any fundraising we do, to continue these services, raises much needed money which is spent to benefit only our local area.

“We thought what better way to make the point about our local-ness than to get real local people involved in showcasing both our beautiful area and the wonderful older people that live in it.”
