Organisers of this year’s Apex Park Playday in Highbridge are appealing for volunteers to make sure the day runs smoothly, Sedgemoor District Council has said.
The 2018 event – which will take place on 1 August – will feature over 40 free activities including model boats, face painters, inflatables, a climbing wall, dancing, turbo paddlers, and music activities.
It is part of a national day for play in the UK, traditionally held on the first Wednesday in August.
Last year, despite inclement weather, approximately 7,000-people attended the free fun-filled event.
A council spokesperson said: “All of this needs people to help with planning of the event, by being willing to be on the committee and attend occasional meetings in the run up or to help on the day as marshals.
“The Apex Park Playday is one of the largest in the country and allows parents to have a day off from spending their hard-earned dosh to keep the kids entertained during the summer holidays as well as allowing families to spend quality time together having a picnic and exploring one of Sedgemoor’s most beautiful parks.”
If you can spare a few hours on the day, or are happy to help in the planning of the event, you can email organiser Rosie Pike or call on 07867 967087.
