Hullabaloos was launched in 2014 by Leigh and Randa Hucker in Axbridge. The company motto is 'Made to Make you Smile' and they believe that simple pleasures in life are important. It’s a belief that is echoed in their products, with their traditional methods and natural recipes.
Randa: "We are based in Axbridge and make our lemonades here. We feel very lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the country, and the surrounding hills and fields are a constant source of inspiration for us. Our work takes us to events and establishments throughout the local area and we never get bored of discovering new towns and villages in the area."
Each bottle of Hullabaloos is made by hand in the Somerset countryside using real fruit, and with absolutely no chemicals, colours or preservatives. Randa said that as a company, they feel “very strongly” that you do not need to add chemicals to create something that tastes great.
Randa: "We currently make five flavours of lemonade – original, elderflower, orange, raspberry and the recently launched ginger. Our recipes have all been created by ourselves over the course of the last two years and we work hard to ensure exactly the right balance and depth of flavour in each drink, all the time ensuring we are using fresh, high quality ingredients. Our recipes are top secret – in fact we are the only people who know how to make our drinks!"
Randa credits the support of her Somerset suppliers for enabling the business to grow across the county, and maybe further afield in the future.
Randa: "We are lucky enough to sell into some fantastic local establishments including pubs, farm shops, cafes and delis. These include the wonderful Blackmore Farm in Cannington, Pynes Butchers in Petherton, The Good Earth in Wells, The Sheppey in Godney, Riverside in Cheddar, Lion Rock in Cheddar, Puxton Park in Weston, Brockley Stores in Congresbury and Thorners in Shepton Mallet. We also work at many foodie events in Somerset where you can buy our lemonade such as Burnham on Sea Food Festival, Weston Super Food Festival and Wells Food Festival. We are at Wells Farmers Market every week and the wonderful Frome Independent on the first Sunday of each month."
Randa’s passion for her products is obvious, but why her passion for Somerset?
Randa: "Why do we love Somerset? What’s not to love? The people, the countryside and the thriving food and drink culture within it!"
